Continuum cleared for Season 3!

Hi peeps. It’s been a while since my last diary entry and what better time then after some good news?! I woke up this morning to find out Continuum Season 3 has a green light.  I am so happy for the creators of this amazing show and for the cast & crew!  It has been a pleasure and an honor to be a part of this adventure. I am humbled and so thankful… thank you thank you thank you…

That being said I would like to chat about bee’s. For many years scientists couldn’t figure out how bee’s where able to fly. Their body and wing proportion didn’t add up in what they understood to be the laws of aerodynamics. I LOVED this story. No one told the bee it couldn’t fly so it just did.  As an actor I often considered myself to be a sort of bee.  When I would hear someone tell me why I couldn’t do something…”Your too old, your look isn’t right, you aren’t in LA…” etc… I would think of a bee.  For some reason the bee’s ability to fly when it “shouldn’t” was a source of strength for me.  Of course scientists now understand how bee’s can fly. The mystery is gone and we all move on… But hold on. I think the story is still valid.  Why do we need to understand THE HOW for something to be possible?  Is it not enough to have a dream and work towards it?  I would argue it is! I would also go as far as saying it’s what has gotten me here so far.

So now what? Now that I’m on a series the red carpet should be rolled out and jobs are given to me left and right! hahahah.. no!  I’m still putting in the work. I’m still hearing the reason’s why I shouldn’t do things. That my entry into Film & TV was late. That I’m too old to go to LA and get a manager.  Let me be clear. The people that say these things don’t do it to be vindictive. Rather, they actually believe them to be facts.  What is life really except a series of subjective beliefs we allow to rule and control us?!

I am in this for the long haul. No matter what the outcome I will be involved in Film/TV in one capacity or another. I love it so much I really don’t see myself doing anything else.  So with that resolution in mind I will be the bee.  I will go after my dreams no matter how big, extravagant or UN-reachable. I will go after them because, like the bee, I don’t give a shit if you understand how I’m doing it. I’m doing it!

Thanks for reading… 🙂

  1. Hey don’t forget about Jennifer Spence and her character Betty now; she’s pretty epic as well. 🙂

I have to agree that the treatment of female characters on this show is one of the many reasons I enjoy this show. There’s no damsels in distress, no one is saying they can’t do something just because they’re girls (there’s a lot of fear/respect from the male characters towards the female characters on this show), and there’s no pampering them – if their characters get into a fight it’s going to be a knock down, drag out fight…no one is scared to chip a nail in that group (or break a bone). In fact I’d argue that the women on this show have better fight sequences than the guys! 🙂

It’s great balance respect for the female characters. They’re not just simply the best friend, the girlfriend, the sister, the mom, or the designated eye candy…yes this is a good looking cast but that’s not what keeps viewers coming back each week; yes Sonya and Travis are dating but Sonya isn’t just Travis’s girlfriend who hitched a ride back to be with him or joined Liber8 because of him – she’s her own character who you could debate pulled Travis into Liber8 instead of the other way around. Not to mention she’s the current leader of Liber8. The girls can be friends to people but they can also be their enemy in non-cat fighty ways. They’re real feeling, smart characters with unique back stories for each one.

    It’s great! 😀

I love the female characters on “Continuum”. 🙂 But on to the blog post topic at hand…

A well deserved season 3! I look forward to the announcement of seasons 4, 5, 6, and even a 7 if the cast/crew still want to keep doing the show then. 🙂 Also looking forward to the release of the season 2 DVDs so we can do another rewatch leading up to the first episode of the new season. 🙂

Also, very lovely bee speech Ms. Petersen; may you continue to buzz for many years to come! 🙂

  2. Hi Daniel,

Thanks for the kind words. I totally agree with you about the lack of awesome roles for women. I’m sure Lexa & Rachel would agree… working on Continuum is such a thrill due to the amazing writing and diverse characters.

  3. i love continuum and luvia your awesome sad to say i didnt know that much about you till this show. not many shows have a group of awesome women like you lexi and rachel

  4. I was watching some random movie in Netflix and when the flick was over, it suggested me to watch Continuum. I’m so hooked, so surprised by the great work of every person involved, and so amazed by your character! You fuckin’ kick ass! But I’m also very isolated as a fan haha, I’m from Mexico City and I just began telling my (nerdy?) friends to give it a chance ’cause no one here knows about the existence of the show. Keep up the good work girl, we bees know how to achieve goals 😉

  5. Last week’s Continuum was snoozer…, it was missing Bad Girl Garza!
Thanks for also spicing up Falling Skies!
